Dr. Shirley Leoni completed her bachelors in biological sciences and psychology at Rutgers University in New Jersey and went on to continue her studies at Nova Southeastern University College of Optometry in beautiful Fort Lauderdale, FL. There, she was awarded a second bachelors in vision science, in addition to her doctorate of optometry. Her training included rotations in primary eye care as well as specialized care in contact lens, pediatrics, and low vision. During the final year of her doctorate, Dr. Shirley Leoni received several honors, including the Xcel Excellence in Scleral Lens Management Award, awarded to the graduate who showed the highest clinical performance in scleral lens management.
Dr. Shirley Leoni completed extensive training in ocular disease at the Orlando Veterans Affairs Medical Centers located in Lake Baldwin and Lake Nonna, FL. There, she received world-class optometric training in ocular disease and co-managed patients alongside seasoned optometrists and ophthalmologists.
Dr. Shirley Leoni is a member of several organizations including the American Optometric Association (AOA), Florida Optometric Association (FOA), American Academy of Orthokeratology and Myopia Control (AAOMC), and Scleral Lens Education Society (SLS).
Dr. Shirley Leoni has practiced in a variety of modalities including private practice, optical, and retail/corporate. She strives for excellence in all modalities and genuinely cares about the well-being of her patients.
Dr. Shirley Leoni’s hobbies include cooking, traveling, and spending time with her family. She is married and joyfully expecting her first child in March 2021.
