Can dry eye cause vision loss?
OK, here’s another good one. Can dry eye cause vision loss?
Usually dry eye does not cause vision loss, but if it’s really severe, it can. So how do we prevent that from happening? If you feel like your eyes are dry or you think maybe you have dry eye, go see your eye care practitioner. The sooner you treat it, the less likely it is to cause any permanent vision loss.
But one thing I can tell you is that dry eye usually does cause visual fluctuations. So if you feel like your vision is blurry at the end of the day, you feel like sometimes you wake up and you’re not seeing well, but it clears out. Or like I said, you work several hours on the computer and then it gets blurry or sometimes it comes in and out. All of those symptoms can actually be caused by dry eye. None of this is permanent, but again it should be treated if you are feeling those visual fluctuations, as I mentioned, the sooner you see your eye doctor, the more likely it is that we will not have any permanent vision loss from dry eye.
