May is Healthy Vision Month

When it comes to our health, most of us visit a doctor or nurse regularly to make sure our bodies are healthy. But what about our eyes? They’re not always a priority, but they’re just as important.During Healthy Vision Month, held each May, the National Eye Institute encourages people to make their eye health a priority and promotes 5 simples steps they can take to protect their vision:1) Get a comprehensive dilated eye exam; 2) Live a healthy lifestyle; 3) Know you family eye health history; 4) Use protective eyewear; and 5) Wear sunglasses.Taking these steps can help prevent many eye diseases and conditions that may lead to vision loss or blindness. In addition, dilated eye exams can detect problems early, when they’re easier to treat.
